Welcome back to the Musical Disclosure column of Perform School of Music. Today, we steer you towards softer sounds with a captivating artist: Sade.
Sade is actually the name of the band led, of course, by Helen Folasade Adu, better known as Sade. The Nigerian-born artist, after a couple of attempts in funk projects, made her official debut with the band that brought her to prominence in a Channel 4 program in 1984. The group's debut album is "Diamond Life" (1984), which proves to be an extraordinary success with over six million copies sold—an impressive feat for a debut album. The fusion of smooth jazz, soul, and pop finds its utmost expression in tracks like "Smooth Operator" and "Your Love Is King," making Sade an immediate icon.
Today, we present "Hang On To Your Love." Enjoy listening!"
