Amateur Courses

If you haven't found the right opportunity yet to decide to pick up (or pick back up) your instrument, Amateur Courses are perfect for you!

Amateur courses are open to everyone, from children as young as eight to adults. Depending on the class attended, the course can serve two very different functions.

In the first scenario, which is quite common with younger students, the class consists of students who are approaching music in general and/or a specific instrument for the first time. The goal of the course is to provide a basic musical foundation from the unique perspective of the chosen instrument.

In the second scenario, the class is composed of students who already have some basic musical knowledge and play an instrument before participating in the course. The objective, in this case, is to provide a weekly gathering where the student maintains and strengthens their musical skills, while also being encouraged in new directions by the teacher and classmates.

In both cases and in all situations more or less similar to these, the educational activity, conducted by the same teachers who lead the regular courses to ensure Perform School's quality, is specifically designed for those who want to integrate musical activities into their daily commitments (school, sports, work, family). Therefore, students are not required to dedicate as much time as the Part-Time and Full-Time regular courses.

The lessons in amateur courses take place in small group classes with a minimum of two and a maximum of four participants. Learning is based on practical and inductive music study. For example, starting from a piece chosen by the teacher, certain recurring themes in the piece itself can be explored, such as the use of a particular type of scale or irregular time signatures (this is the opposite of what happens in regular courses, whose structured nature allows for deductive progression, covering the theoretical aspects of a certain topic in detail and building a more solid foundation on which to more effectively develop the practical aspect of music).

The lessons are conducted in one-hour sessions on a weekly basis.
