Among the sections of the Perform School of Music blog, there is one dedicated to education.
The content in this section aims to stimulate curiosity, focusing on technical aspects and beyond. The attention toward musical knowledge, in a broad sense, can and should be continuously encouraged.
Therefore, you can find articles related to different instruments such as drums, bass, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, piano, keyboards, vocals, as well as general information about music.
In this case, we decided to open this new section with an article dedicated to a topic related to drums, as the school originated many years ago as a drum school before evolving into a specialized music education center focusing on modern ensemble instruments.
Very often, when starting a drumming or percussion course, one of the first rudiments encountered is the paradiddle, one of the fundamental rudiments. Its correct and complete name is the single paradiddle and is characterized by the alternation of strokes R-L-R-R L-R-L-L, where the letters R and L represent the right hand and left hand, respectively.
Although this is the standard rudiment included in the 40 fundamental rudiments of the P.A.S. (Percussive Arts Society), there are variations: the reverse paradiddle, the inward paradiddle, and the outward paradiddle.
You can find them in the video below.
Enjoy the music!
