Francesco Vecchia is a bassist and multi-instrumentalist, highly active in both live performances and studio recordings, as well as an experienced educator. Noteworthy among his extensive qualifications are a diploma in music theory and solfeggio from the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Turin, and a degree in Popular Music from the Giorgio Federico Ghedini Conservatory of Cuneo. Since 2013, he has been teaching electric bass at the Perform School of Music, where he also conducts courses in Music Theory and History of Music since 2017.
Currently, he is engaged in William Jones' La Porta Nuova project, where he contributes to arrangements and recordings alongside notable international artists.
What to Expect
The Masterclass consists of two parts. In the first part, Francesco Vecchia will introduce the two genres (Blues and Rock 'n' Roll) within their respective socio-cultural contexts, illustrating their roots and development scope. During this phase, explanations will be supported by listening to tracks from the most representative artists of the period and the two genres: participants will be guided in the exercise of active and analytical listening to music, the importance of which will become clear in the second part of the Masterclass.
Indeed, in this second phase, we move from theory to practice: after providing a detailed explanation of the musical structures that unite the two genres discussed, Francesco Vecchia will guide participants in the direct application of these structures, with particular attention to building an effective and stylistically coherent bass line.
All participants will have the opportunity to directly apply what they have learned on their own instrument and in an ensemble.

The masterclass will be held on April 07th at the Birrificio Officine Ferroviarie, in Corso Sommeiller 12, Turin: a welcoming and stimulating place to immerse yourself in the world of music.
