Alessandra Turri is a singer who boasts a large number of live performances and has a long experience in music teaching. She graduated in Modern Singing at NAMM in Milan, and over the years she has deepened the study of many aspects related to singing and music in general, including theory and solfeggio and harmony (with Maestro Josè Mascolo), Vocal Technique (following the American Voicecraft method with Loretta Martinez, with the American Scientist and Singer Founder Jo Estill and with the Choir Director Jim Heiner), Diction and Orthophony (with Mietta Raimondi), Choral Singing, Microphone Singing, Jazz Singing (with Laura Fedele) and Scenic Behavior, as well as having held seminars with Anne Marie Speed, singing and musical teacher at the Royal Academy in London. She has worked on numerous projects as a songwriter and session player and collaborated with many artists, moving through different musical genres.
What to Expect
The Masterclass is conceived as a spin-off of the course "La Palestra VocAle," a true journey through the anatomy and psychology of the human voice, an exploration that combines theoretical knowledge and practical exercises to help students reach their maximum artistic potential. In the first part of the Masterclass, Alessandra will shed light on the anatomy of this "invisible instrument," dividing it into three essential components: the engine (which includes breathing and the involved muscles), the source (the vocal cords, their position, and their vibrational functioning), and the filter (the vocal tract and resonance chambers), each playing a crucial role in the production of vocal sound.
But the voice is not only anatomy, and the second part of the Masterclass will focus on the interaction between the voice and the singer's body and mind: the importance of proper knowledge and use of the body combined with an appropriate mindset will be discussed. Finally, Alessandra will guide participants in creating and implementing a sustainable daily routine for vocal development. Practical examples of exercises from the La Palestra VocAle course will be provided, and participants will engage in a series of activities aimed at training the engine, source, and filter muscles, the three elements that make up the voice instrument. It will be an opportunity for everyone to put into practice what they have learned, preparing for vocal performance and post-performance recovery. Active participation is required for each phase of the Masterclass, as Alessandra will ask participants to perform exercises and activities related to the topics discussed.
