Musical Disclosure by Perform School of music Episode 94

This week, we focus on a great artist, Phil Collins.

Here we are at a new week dedicated to the protagonists of modern music. This week, we focus on a great artist who has made history both as a member of a band and as a solo artist: it's the latter part of Phil Collins's career that interests us.

Phil Collins, born in Chiswick, London, showed innate talent for music from a young age. At just 5 years old, he received a toy drum kit as a gift, marking the beginning of his musical journey. Without knowing music notation, he developed his own method to accompany melodies from the radio and television. At the age of 12, he formed his first musical group, marking the beginning of an extraordinary adventure in the world of music. At 14, he enrolled at the Barbara Speake Stage School, where he began to nurture his passion for acting and modeling. His first professional recording came with Flaming Youth on the album "ARK 2". In 1970, Phil Collins responded to an advertisement in Melody Maker and auditioned to join Genesis. His drumming skills and theatrical background made him the ideal candidate for the band. He made his solo debut on the song "For Absent Friends" from the album "Nursery Cryme" in 1971, contributing to Genesis's success during their early phase. Alongside his career with Genesis, Collins undertook highly successful solo projects. His debut solo album, "Face Value", released in 1981, achieved incredible success. The single "In the Air Tonight" became a pop music icon, establishing Collins as one of the greatest solo artists of his generation.

Today's listening is a very famous cover from his second solo album, "Hello, I Must Be Going!" (1982).
